For a few weeks now kids across Florida have been returning to school for the start of the 2025-2026. Kids back in school is a big reminder that slow season is upon us. Traffic should lighten, and Publix shopping should be less chaotic.

Our Marathon Dolphins just finished up their first full week back and extracurricular activities are back in action. Current sports schedules are listed on the official highschool athletics website. 

August 6th, 2025 was the opening day of Lobster Season. For months, multigenerational keys fisherman have been preparing their traps, buoys and boats for the impending season. Since the season has opened, they've been met with a shockingly low market price that is alleged to be $5 a pound compared to previous years of $10 and up. The historically favored 2025 Lobster Mini Season just came to an end. The two day event took place on Wednesday and Thursday (July 30th & 31st), and is considered a holiday by most visitors and locals alike. For many it is the last hoorah before summer ends and school starts and is looked forward to year after year.
