Wedding In The (Middle) Keys

February 17, 2020 Florida Keys Lifestyle, Uncategorized

Planning a wedding is hard work!  Do not let anyone tell you any different.  I, my husband at times, recently planned the wedding of our daughter and boy did we learn a lot.  Apparently we did a rather good job as our daughter, now son-in-law, friends and family all loved it so I would like to share a few things that we learned along the way.  I will also list all of the vendors in our area and indicate the ones that we went with.

Church

While most people prefer to have a beach ceremony, our daughter wanted to be more traditional.  Now, don’t get me wrong, beach weddings are absolutely gorgeous but that just didn’t sound good to us.  Our choice for the ceremony was Kirk of the Keys.  For one, it is a beautiful church and two we attend service there.  For other places of worship please visit Area Churches.

Food

The choices are literally endless!!!  You can choose from Classic American, to Cuban Classics to high end specialty and any choice would be great.  You just need to decide what you are looking for.  We chose Irie Island Eats and we could not have been happier with our choice. From the first time I spoke with Chris, the owner, until our food was delivered it was more than we could have asked for.  There were no hidden fees, the food was delivered on time and Chris was just a wonder to work with even after changing our menu a couple of times.  If Irie Island Eats isn’t what you are looking for, check Area Caterers.

Music

Live or DJ?  We chose a DJ who turned out to be the best in the world!  DJ FIJI was the absolute best. His attention to detail made sure that absolutely nothing was missed and the entire reception went on without one single problem.  All of our music selections were played and he threw in some that we hadn’t even thought of that made the celebration more fun.  His lighting and sound were spot-on.  For other choices, Area Music.

Venue

Banana Bay was our choice for the reception.  First, the staff was just amazing.  In fact, much to my horror, during our daughters ceremony it began to rain (like a down-poor).  The staff at Banana Bay put all of our decorations under cover so when we arrived everything was dry and just in need of touch up.  The views are fabulous and there is plenty of room for any size party.  Considering that the entire Florida Keys is beautiful there are so many places to chose from that there really isn’t a bad choice.

Photographer

Alyssa Morgan Photography is simply the best!!!  We love Alyssa and could not imagine doing this without here. Alyssa helped us with so many things, including the time-line for the reception.  She is always so kind helpful all while capturing the perfect photo.  The photos featured here are courtesy of Alyssa Morgan Photography.  There are other great photographers in the keys but Alyssa will always be our number 1 choice.
