New Restaurants Are Tasty Additions to Marathon Dining

Marathon diners have several new restaurants to whet their appetites. For a taste of what's new, read on. 

The Chesapeake


Marathon's newest addition to the restaurant scene is the The Chesapeake. It's already getting good reviews on Trip Advisor, and it's just opened! The restaurant and bar had a successful grand opening last week. Business partners Alejandro Guardiola and Chef Johnathan Tibbs are aiming for casual fine dining and the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The owners claim that 80% of the seafood they serve is locally caught! Check out the great service and crab cakes.  Open from 11am-11pm daily.

Tarpon Creek Bar & Grill 

This waterfront tiki style restaurant, located at Mile Marker (MM) 53.5 (behind the Holiday Inn Express off of US1), offers outdoor seating for lunch and dinner with occasional live music. An extensive menu features American cuisine, seafood selections, a Latin twist, and gluten free & vegan friendly items. Tarpon Creek is already locally well known for their wood-fired pizza, flame grill, and their large beer and wine list. Hard liquor is also available.

Are you a sports fan? The bar is equipped with flat screen TV's and offers ample seating directly at the bar with high tops tables available barside for small groups. Happy hour is from 4pm until 7pm daily.

The restaurant also has wireless access.

Grassy Key Outpost Market and Grill 

Are you a visitor looking for a snack and a place to rest? Or a Grassy Key resident in need of a few grocery items? Owners John Santaniello and Jim Mooney (local) of the Grassy Key Outpost Market and Grill yearned to create a unique location that would complement all their customers' needs. This "famed stopping point" offers breakfast (7am-11am), lunch (11:30pm-5:30pm), and dinner (5:30pm-9:00pm), plus beer, wine, espresso, gourmet treats, and general grocery items. They're well known for the fresh ceviche, oven baked specialty pizzas, diner burgers, and their authentic espresso.

The Grassy Key Outpost is opened from 7am-10pm daily and is located at mm 58 Oceanside. Bring your laptop! – this location offers free wireless internet and outside seating for you and your furry friends.

Marathon Grille and Ale House

Marathon Grille and Ale House, located in Gulfside Village Plaza, is a hot spot for fun and offers entertainment on the weekends. The grill has TWO happy hours daily including drink and food specials from 4pm to 6pm and again 10pm to midnight. If you don't make it for happy hour this full service restaurant and bar opens at 11am until 2am every day and has a full Ameican/Seafood menu for lunch, dinner, and late night dining. This restaurant is has become popular as a sportsbar fwith its six 60" flat screen TVs and its late night menu.
