We always seem to head back to the same place, Spark’s Landing. Located in a convenient place in Marathon right on the water, this place has it all. Sparky’s is located behind the Fairfield Inn and Suites right off of Oversees Highway. This restaurant has four choices of seating: the bar, under the main tiki, on the back patio, or on the water. We always sit on the water for happy hour. Drinks are wonderful! As soon as your glass is starting to empty the wait staff is always there to ask if you would like another. My favorite adult beverage of choice is their Sparky’s Punch – Blue Haven Coconut Rum, Blue Chair Bay Banana Rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and a splash of grenadine topped with a dark rum floater and shaved coconut. It is a truly island drink to sip on while sitting by the water and refresh after a day in the sun (or chasing children all week). The color of this drink matches the colors in the sky of the Florida Keys sunsets. Now on to the food! We always pick a few of the happy hour appetizers and end up sharing. Hands down the two best happy hour items are the Brussel Sprout Chips and the Fish Tacos. The Brussel Sprout Chips are roasted and come with a grain mustard sour cream dipping sauce. They are light but satisfying at the same time and the serving size is perfect to share. However, the number one thing you need to have at Sparky’s is their fish tacos. You will see on every menu in the Florida Keys fish tacos, but not one restaurant can compare with Sparky’s. Buttermilk, battered fried local Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi), pickled red onion, tomatillo sauce, cabbage, cilantro lime sauce, on flour tortillas and served with rice and beans on the side. The sauces against the perfectly fried mahi mahi will make every taste bud stand up and ask for more. Entertainment is a huge plus! Sparky’s always has a live singer singing the local island tunes. We enjoyed act such as Roger Jokela, John Bartus, Ty Thurman, and Abstract Radio to name a few. They also have theme nights Taco & Tequila Tuesdays, Wine Time Wednesdays, Prime Rib Thursdays, TGIF, and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Brunch always entails buy one get one free champagne and mimosas. Sparky’s also has so many large screen TVs. You will always be able to find whatever game or fight on that you are interested in. Spark’s definitely has something for everyone in your party to enjoy. You will not be disappointed when you choose Sparky’s Landing for your Happy Hour or any other time.Visit Sparky's Landing
