Independence Day Fun and Fireworks at Marathon’s Sombrero Beach

June 9, 2011 News

Fourth of July is right around the corner and what a great day to celebrate our freedom.  As a nation, we have so many to thank for the ultimate sacrifice of giving their lives for what we enjoy today.  To those men and women, past, present and future and from this humble writer, thank you for the gift that keeps on giving.

In the Keys the fireworks celebration at Sombrero beach is a must see for locals and visitors alike.  It is spectacular and amazing that such a small community compared to the big cities can put on a display of that caliber.

Fourth of July celebrations kick off with a  patriotic parade at 10:30 a.m. at Marathon High School on Sombrero Beach Road (MM 50 on the ocean side). The parade concludes at Sombrero Beach where everyone gathers for a picnic. There will be food and beverages for sale, childrens’ crafts and entertainment and, of course, a fireworks display. Some will also gather on the water as hundreds of boaters usually anchor out to enjoy fireworks.

Our company still has some weekly vacation rentals available for that week.  Sooooo, treat your self, book that vacation, enjoy our waters and stop in to say Hi.

Remember, ‘Carpe Diem”  which means, seize the moment and enjoy the place I call home.

Best to you and yours…..Paul
