Thanks to the staff of the Turtle Hospital and Veterinarian Doug Mader Karsten the subadult loggerhead sea turtle is enjoying the ocean waters once again. On May 24, 2011 the 109 pound turtle was found swimming in a canal in Marathon, in the Florida Keys, by homeowners. The Turtle Hospital was called and rescued the turtle. After an exam by Dr. Mader two fish hooks were found lodged in Karstens jaw and esophagus. They were removed and Karsten was nursed back to health.
Today, thanks to the expert help he received, Karsten was released into the beautiful waters surrounding the Keys! I wonder what he's doing right now?
