Well, it's official: the City of Marathon in the Florida Keys now has the lowest millage rate in the entire state of Florida. In last night's City Council meeting the millage rate was unanimously voted through at 1.9999 mills after several budget meetings for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
While other municipalities through out the Florida Keys have increased taxes and their sewer systems are still in the planning phase, Marathon is moving forward with low taxes, a sewer system near completion, beautification of the US 1 corridor, Sombrero Beach upgrades and a 46% increase in tourism!
