Are you a history buff? If so, January is your month to visit and enjoy the Florida Keys. We're celebrating the completion of Henry "Flagler's Speedway to Sunshine" railroad - and there are lots of fun, entertaining and enlightening events planned.

The Marathon Community Theatre will host Paul J. Jellinek as Henry Flagler on Sunday, January 22nd during the one man show entitled, "Wild Dreams."

A few of the events still on the calendar include the "Pops in the Park," a free musical concert on January 21st at 4pm at the Islamorada Founders Park, Bayside, MM 87, Plantation Key.and the "Flagler's Speedway to Sunshine Exhibit" in Key West, a permanent exhibition a the Custom House Museum, 281 Front St. The museum is open every day from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There's even a parade down Duval Street on Sunday! And you know, everybody loves a parade!

I've lived in the Keys for 37 years and I will tell you it is still thrilling to drive over the 7-Mile Bridge that connects Marathon to Sunshine Key, then just around the corner is Bahia Honda Bridge where you can see a piece of the old railroad still standing.
